What is Dialogic Intervention? This is a highly skilful consulting methodology used by Dialogue Practitioners to intervene in any organisational or system of organisations. Dialogic Intervention is vital when an organisation or social grouping finds itself challenged – but does not appear to have the capability to prevent (or even substantially mitigate) a predictable and costly negative outcome. Without a Dialogic Intervention, people ´watch the pending train crash´ unclear and impotent about what to do. Similarly, the challenge may be a significant opportunity that people can feel ´slipping through their fingers´ without them able to do anything effective about it.

The Part Two curriculum is based on the first-hand working experiences of Peter Garrett and Jane Ball, not book knowledge or learnt theory. This covers the development of the skills to practice intervention; collective sense-making through chaptered history; the right use of power; the discernment, stance, energy and investment of a dialogic intervenor; drawing and enlarging circles of accountability and influence; using the culture to change the culture; freeing up collective thought and sub-cultural groupings; live sub-cultural mapping; dealing with regression; the confident use of the external practitioner Implicate Change model and/or the internal practitioner Working Dialogue change model.

Accreditation is achieved through evidence of practice, and graduates are recognised by the Academy of Professional Dialogue as Accredited Professional Dialogue Intervenors and are entitled to use the initials APDI.

The faculty is led by Peter Garrett and Jane Ball who were included in the Dialogic Intervention Consultation Lead Task Force of five experienced practitioners that defined the criteria for Dialogic Intervention. They have been formally recognised as Accredited Professional Dialogue Accreditors.
